I try and think about something else for a few days, just to clear my head. Then I try to listen to music to inspire me. What I normally do is pick a piece of music, classical or techno usually, and write whatever it makes me feel. That is a good way for me to get the creative juices flowing.

There is something amazing about putting an idea on paper. Having that spark in your mind about a person and how they might live or think and then write their story. I like being able to live a life not my own vicariously through my characters.

Write. Write. Write. Every second of every day. Rainer Maria Rilke said in Letters to a Young Poet that if when you wake up in the morning, you can think of nothing but writing you are a writer. (Yes, that is from Sister Act - yes I watch Sister Act) You will write garbage. You will write bad poetry and awful prose. Learn from it. You will write some of the most beautiful words you have ever seen and you will lose that poem because you put it in your pocket and then ran your pants through the washer. Don't give up.

While a sequel to "Broken" is not out of the question, I am currently working on a new book entitled “Forbidden”. I have spent that last ten years of my life working on the story of Adam and Cassandra. So it is nice to take a break from that story for a while and work on something new.

I have been writing for years. I started writing (bad) poetry in the fourth grade and went on to write better ones later. Poetry turned to short stories and eventually the idea for this book took form.

(view spoiler)[I started writing "Broken" when I was in the tenth grade. I started turning the idea over in my head during Biology class. I thought about what would happen if a girl lost the only person she had in the world. How would she react? (hide spoiler)]
