I write something else! I have four or five books on the go: some of them are novels, some of them are poetry. As long as I'm writing, then ideas will appear.
If not that, then I go for a walk or people watch at work. You can find yourself in the middle of so much if you just open your eyes and pay attention. Sometimes, inspiration comes from the oddest places and can trigger the most random thoughts or memories.

Seeing my name on places like Amazon and seeing people talk about my work. I've had people message me to talk about their favourites and tell me how much they've loved and enjoyed it: that means more than ANY of the money that comes from it. Knowing I've helped a person or made a person think or laugh: having an impact on a person is something that I can't ever get over. I cry a little bit every time someone comes to me to talk about what I've written; bad or good, they've still read it and it's still had an impact.

Keep writing. Don't stop writing and PLEASE don't stop reading! When I'm reading more, my writing is so much better and so much more refined. If I'm not reading then it feels messy and doesn't really flow.
Look into self publishing. It gets your foot in the door and your work out there; some people who have self published have gone on to be published by major publishers because their work is already out there and they can say for sure that people are/ aren't buying it.
And don't take it too seriously! If you're self published and starting out, you're not going to be a best seller over night. You're going to have to work! Don't be disheartened if it's not on the best sellers right away, everything takes time and you've done an amazing thing!

When something happens, a line appears in my head and I'll write it down. Usually, it flows there and then. If not, I know it's likely never going to get written; when it comes to poetry and writing, I'm very much an all or nothing person.
Inspiration usually comes from people in my life or events/ things that happen to me. If I can't relate to it in some level then it doesn't feel natural, it feels like a robot has read other poetry and vomited up some of the most common topics.

Life: every poem in 'These are the Words I Shout at the Moon' means something to me. Everything I've spoken about is something I've experienced or seen or been a part of in some way. Between assault, toxic relationships, sexism... but then you see me learning to deal with it and loving myself. I wanted this book to show my journey from lost and confused to self assured and empowered.
