I didn't have a longstanding desire to write. The inspiration came suddenly. I watched a movie called Playing with Fire, with John Cenna and Brianna Hildebrand. In it, three orphaned siblings get picked up by a firefighting team. By the end of the movie (spoiler alert), firefighter captain Jake develops fatherly feelings for the kids. I had also watched to may love stories with my wife and thought, how could this story about orphans and rescuer be changed to be a love story? Increase the age of the oldest sibling, lower the age of the rescuer. Then what? I started writing a plot summary. At first it was just a thought exercise. But I kept going back to add to it. Eventually, I got The Trailer Behind the Garage.

I am working on a continuation of the Jensen Siblings series that brings in someone from Alia's past. Homeless teenager Kennedi and her newborn baby get fostered by a couple from the earlier books. Kennedi uses a DNA heritage test to search for her own relatives as well as the father of her baby. I don't have a title yet.

My most recent book was The DollarFly Girls. After writing The Gas Station Girl, which follows Alia's recovery after escaping sex trafficking, one of my early reviewers said she wanted to know more about Alia's experience in the sex trafficking ring. At the time, that book and my previous one, The Trailer Behind the Garage, were stories about family or becoming a family. Even the third book was loosely about family. I didn't think I could write about the soulless villains who would lure girls into sex trafficking. But after that third book, in which Alia experiences a flashback to something during her time in captivity, I thought maybe I can write a short story of her background. And that's what I started to do. A few pages into the story, I realized I needed to present a backstory of the ringleaders, a reason for how they got involved in prostitution. After writing Lauren's background, I knew this would be more than a short story.
