Can you tell us a two-sentence horror story?

C.L. LaVigne Mouth agape, four-year-old Billy trembled and pointed toward the dark woods which danced with unusual shadows on the moonless night. Peering into the blackness, his mother reassured him that there was nothing there until she turned back to Billy and screamed in horror upon seeing her precious boy transformed into a darkling child who howled and ran into the forest to join the other spirits of nature.

How do you get inspired to write?

C.L. LaVigne My mother wrote poetry and handmade all her notes to friends and family. Her words were an extension of her soul. I wanted to know what that felt like. It was very hard at first because I wouldn't get out of my own way, but once I allowed my thoughts to flow freely, my world changed.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

C.L. LaVigne I am always amazed what my fingers write. I may start off with a theme, but I just start pounding the keys and soon my hands take over and produced amazing stories.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

C.L. LaVigne My life experiences. My series, Chronicle of Ceres, is based on my family and our own journeys through life. Even though it's fantasy, it is truly magic realism. Embrace your own magic!

What are you currently working on?

C.L. LaVigne Shasta Beckons, which is book 3 in Chronicle of Ceres. The story focuses on Kai's journey.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

C.L. LaVigne Keep writing no matter what. If you have a story in your head, write it down and don't fret about getting ever word, sentence and paragraph just right.

Allow that burst of creativity to find its way onto the page regardless of spelling, punctuation or grammar. Just WRITE it. Then, go back and edit it.

How do you deal with writer’s block?

C.L. LaVigne I just start typing nonsense...anything the jumps into my brain. Typically after a few paragraphs, the story takes over and commands my fingers.
