Charles Edwin Its technically a companion piece to a story I have yet to finish. But, I was struggling with the narration style and wanted to give up. So I decided to write a smaller project first and decided to write ATTICUS. Which is a companion piece for a character named Atticus who appears in the 2nd book of my unwritten series called A Kid and His Slime.
Charles Edwin I think about a theme for the next story I want to write and how that theme makes me feel. Then I start messing with characters, villains, and the world. But I need to know the overarching theme of the piece before I get straight to work. Otherwise, I just make characters and then come up with the theme. Which sometimes results in characters being scraped or reworked to fit the theme.
Charles Edwin THEODIN.EXE, a cyberpunk, 1st person pov story about a teenage prince.
Charles Edwin Honestly, just write. Whether it be in order, free form, or even just to play. And writing isn't always typing or putting words on paper. Writing can just be playing with your characters voice, language, etc in your head. For me, past trauma got in the way a lot as did Imposter Syndrome. But friends helped me push through, so if you're struggling, be open and honest with your friends about it. Mine helped me so much.
Charles Edwin Im not sure if this is very orthodox but I usually just turn on music and sit around. I let my mind freely absorb the music and let whatever memories I have play. Or I'll allow the time to let me characters goof off and play around outside of cannon plot. That usually helps me get a better understanding of them and where they should be going. Its also how I figure out battle scenes. By the time I write 1 battle scene, that battle has been done over 20 different times and variations in my head.
Charles Edwin Dream Zanarkand from Final Fantasy X. I'd love to compete and watch Blitzball.
