A.J. Ford Hmm. So many great choices. I'd love to see one of the Golden Age detectives in action, so I'd pick Hercule Poirot in Murder on the Orient Express. I'd be happy to be there in any capacity. Unfortunately, I'm not smart enough to fill Poirot's shoes, so I guess I'd have to be "the murderer". (No spoilers here, folks!)
Alternatively, I'd love to visit Raymond Chandler's Los Angeles of the late '30s or '40s. I wouldn't want to be any of the pivotal characters in the story, as very few come out of it well. I'd be happy to be General Sternwood's butler, Norris, as he gets to meet Marlowe, see Carmen Sternwood every day (hello, Martha Vickers!), and he makes it out without a bellyful of lead.
