Learning to Breathe emerged from a sermon series we preached at our church from the book of Galatians. As I studied Galatians, it became clearer and clearer to me that Paul viewed the Holy Spirit as the ultimate "game-changer" for living the Christian life. Yet as I studied the references to the Holy Spirit throughout the New Testament, it occurred to me that only rarely does the Spirit work in "dramatic" ways. Instead, He tends to speak to us and lead us through basic spiritual practices like prayer, Scripture meditation, and worship. I found that there were very few practical, easy-to-read books that aimed to help Christians walk with the Spirit on a daily basis. That's what my book is trying to accomplish.
