Javier Iglesias Changing your mind state. Inspiration to write is not something that you program to make it happen. When I write, there are days where I simply cannot get the words to come out, and others that I cannot stop. If I continue to be blocked, what I do to change my mind state is to ride my bike and also simply walk, hike or jog, especially and if possible, close to nature (parks, mountains, beach), and let your mind just wander. Trust me, you will get the flow back.
Javier Iglesias It is the most fascinating way to develop mastery and subject matter expertise about something that you are passionate about, and most importantly, that you can also serve others by passing on wisdom that you have, enabling them to avoid what caused you to struggle in life. This way, you will be leaving a legacy for generations to come.
Javier Iglesias If possible, find some equally passionate (if not more), that share the same ideas, and coauthor your work. being accountable to someone else is an amazing force to help you to keep on going. It took me 15 years to write this book, and it didn't happen (I always had an excuse), until I met my coauthor, friend and now also business partner. Best one ever always pushing me to excel at what we do. Also, today there are so many new sources and useful tools to do it. If writing is something that you would like to do, it's just a matter of deciding and taking action.
Javier Iglesias My coauthor and I are working on a companion workbook to our Mindset Wizardry book, that will allow the reader to master the model and framework presented in the book. We are also creating online materials and in in person events like workshops, masterminds and retreats to take our model to the next level of mastery.
Javier Iglesias I love analogies and when I find one, I like to write about it. For our first book, I got the inspiration from my passion for aviation, so the analogy is comparing our life to an airplane and that we (individually) are the captain of our lives. Only we can decide about the direction we should take to get to where we want to go. So, my inspiration comes from analogies and daydreaming.
Javier Iglesias I have personally and professionally experience transformation and extreme change, but never as when the pandemic hit. It is when you face in your life the devastating effects of dealing with Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity (in short, a term called VUCA). I had the fortune of crossing paths with my coauthor, and she shared similar experiences and passion for helping others, so we both agreed to join forces, do more research and write something to help others to cope with an extreme fast paced change world...A VUCA World.
