What is your publishers suggestion? By the way, while I lived in Taiwan I attended National Poliical University. Did you by any chance meet Dr. Irick? He was the head of the international programs. If you wish, we can withdraw our reviews and start fresh. Your background is impressive, and I am in process of rereading your book.
Brad Good Good morning. I did not have the pleasure of meeting Dr. Irick. Mostly, for Taiwan, I met with some military-related folks, Raymond Greene at AIT, and lots of other random people including the head of Chinese Studies at an American University. As you'll read, my recommendations on Taiwan are vastly different than any others out there. No one talks about the psychological impact on the Taiwanese that has persisted from China threat over the years ...

Looks to me like we are in a pissing contest. It is doing neither of us any good. My review was a genuine knee-jerk reaction against the impression that China is bad when I read your book. Looking at your background (which I did not know), I see you are legitimately an expert. I lived in Taiwan for a year, and the view from there is quite different than the mainland?

It's nice to meet you and thank you for your note. I also lived and worked in Taiwan in 1987. Seeing first-hand its progress over time, compared to China, has been fascinating. You might find it interesting that I'll move to HCMC starting June 1st. I know close to nothing of Vietnam.

It does appear we are in a "pissing contest." Let me know what you think of my publishers suggestion.
