L.E. Scott The best and worst thing about being a writer is finding your readers. It's the best because people are finally reading and liking your stuff, but also the worst because now you have this huge burden to continue to create work that they'll like so they don't go elsewhere for their entertainment.
L.E. Scott Sprints with friends usually help. Sometimes I just work on something fresh or pull out an older manuscript and try to dust it off. Sometimes nothing works until I just take a break from writing. You have no idea how many story ideas have come to me while doing mundane tasks. Way too many come at work when I have no outlet to express them.
L.E. Scott I just got an idea. I'll need to rewrite my entire novel to incorporate it.
L.E. Scott Just started working on a vampire origin story with magic and a whole bunch of other interesting stuff. The basic plot is this: Jude betrayed Jesse and he died. Jude tried to raise Jesse using magic, but it didn't seem to work at first. Jesse rose as a vampire, the very first of his kind. Now all Jesse remembers is Jude, and all Jude wants is the life they had before his mistake. But the more Jesse remembers, the more complicated things start to get. Now Jesse begins to wonder if Jude raising him was a subconscious attempt at punishing himself for his transgressions.
L.E. Scott Inspiration comes from many places. I'll be driving down the road and see something, I'll see a particularly spectacular picture online, I'll read a story I like...it comes from all around me.
L.E. Scott It started as a one off short story about a vampire who collects things from his victims. Then I wrote a few more shorts. I really liked writing the character, and as I flushed him out more, I got more ideas and...well, Nightwalker was born and the two sequels followed shortly thereafter. Both are slated to release later this year.
