Charlie is a vampire who completely rejects what he’s “supposed” to be, while Simon is a hunter who’s built his entire identity around killing monsters. What drew you to pairing these two opposites, and how did writing their dynamic shape the heart of The World’s Wimpiest Vampire?

Silvana Falcon My first notion for the book was that I wanted to write an atypical vampire. Simon was then meant to contrast him. Part of the goal was subverting expectations, both theirs and the readers'. It allowed me to give more emotional depth to a concept that would have otherwise been pure comedy and might have drifted into slapstick territory a little too much.
