Heidi McIntyre It’s never too late. I’ve always been a late bloomer, so I didn’t start writing fiction until I turned 47. My advice would be to trust your instincts and don’t worry about the latest genre trend. Write about topics that you feel passionate about and don’t let other people’s opinions change who you are as a writer.
Heidi McIntyre I’m writing the second book in my series, Dark River Magic. The best part about writing a series is I get to spend more time with characters that I would love to be friends with. I’m also adding a new premise and introducing a few new characters to spice things up a bit.
Heidi McIntyre I get to follow my passion, go on an adventure with my characters and see where it leads me. To be honest, I actually enjoy editing more than writing. The blank screen (or page) is intimidating especially when I’m first starting a book. But when I finish that dreaded first draft, I become a sculptor which is where I shine.

I get to add more detail when needed, cut copy that doesn’t quite fit right or reshape what should change. It’s an intuitive process and I really enjoy honing my skills.
