I get inspired by ideas, but the actual act of sitting down to write is as inspirational as getting in my car and driving to work. I usually don't want to do it, but it's a job, so I get in the car and go. Same with writing. I get my coffee, sit down, and start typing. Sometimes I write a lot of garbage before I get to anything good, but I won't get there if I don't just sit and start.

Nothing at all.

Sit down and write. Find a schedule that realistically wroks for you and do not deviate from it. Sit down and write every day at that time. Don't play computer games. Don't answer emails. Just write.

Final drafts! It's like being pregnant - months and months of pain, weariness, hope, and at last, with one final push there it is - you're baby, kicking, screaming and fully brought into the world. Delicious.

Funny you should ask. I've had a serious case of it for over a year and I'm not sure when it will end. I think life events have rerouted my creativity and it's being used for non-writing purposes. I have nothing to say, nothing I want to explore or dream about. With shorter writer blocks, i.e. weeks or days, when I actually have an idea of where I want to go I just make myself sit and write until I'm back on track.
