In 1996 or thereabouts, I was on my first and only cruise to Mexico or anywhere else for that matter. On the first night, at approximately 1:00 AM the ship stopped. I woke up to the sound of the captain's voice over the public address system in my dark "cabin" notifying me and the rest of the passengers, that a woman had fallen overboard... I went to the balcony and watched as they lowered lifeboats through the thick cold fog and into the sea. A Coast Guard helicopter hovered above shining its powerful spotlight on the choppy water of the Pacific Ocean. As a California Peace Officer, (on vacation and now retired) I expected someone to conduct interviews with the passengers to ensure no foul play had occurred. To my surprise, after about forty minutes or so, the lifeboats were collected, and the ship was on its way to Mexico as if nothing had occurred. I heard the body of the woman washed up on the shore of San Deigo the next day. I surmised, if one wished to rid themself of a pesky wife, a cruise through international waters might be the place to do so... I have considered this plot on more than one occasions as I think it might make a decent novel.

It was a dark and stormy night when I proposed marriage for the third time. She said yes!

Wow! Hard choice as I feel I have visited so many such worlds in the books I read. Honestly, I would have to say Mid-world during a time when Gilead was regulated by the gunslingers from the line of Author Eld. I would like to take a ride on horseback and see the wonders of such a place. From the mind of the master Stephen King I can only imagine the beauty and mystery that awaits me.

My favorite fictional couple is Roland Dechain and Susan Delgado in Stephen Kings "Wizard and Glass" from the Dark Tower Series Volume IV.
I thought King did an excellent job capturing young love and describing the emotions that drive it.

Do something else ~ Better to take a break then to force a plot forward when you don't really feel it. Your story will likely emerge when the time is right.

I suppose it is the freedom of being able to tell a story that actually entertains someone.

Write!!!!! don't stop!! Always be writing!! Don't become discouraged with critics or people who would hold you back. This is the advice I take from others and gladly pass it on :)

I am taking a break from the Bloodline Chronicles despite the fact I have my third installment already plotted. I am currently working on a book set in the near future, 2021, focusing on the civil unrest in the USA following the election of Trump. It is a bit different from my fantasy novels. I am not certain where the story will go, but the plot is moving smoothly. I have no problems with inspiration as the daily news provides plenty of ideas. The genre seems to please my close friends as they love to hit me with their opinions in hopes I will include them in the book.

The short answer, my imagination seems to dictate when I put pen to paper. Does not happen when I want, only when it happens. I wish I could turn it on and off at will. I write fiction. Love to tell stories and take ideas to new places. I find writing is a great escape when reality bangs on us too hard. Ironically, often the challenges we deal with everyday are a great inspiration for telling stories.
