His latest novel, The Road to New Canaan, ventures into a dramatically different landscape. At its heart, the novel is a story of survival, loyalty, family, and the enduring hope that even in humanity's darkest hour, love and faith can illuminate the road ahead.

Born September 8, 1963, Jones grew up surrounded by the traditions and teachings of a family of small-town preachers. Biblical stories, with their larger-than-life characters, moral conflicts, and timeless lessons, became part of the foundation of his imagination long before he ever considered writing a novel.

His earliest love of storytelling, however, began at home. During the evening hours, his mother would gather the neighborhood children and read aloud from the great classics of literature—a simple tradition that left a lasting impression. The worlds of Laura Ingalls Wilder, The Hobbit, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, and Hinds' Feet on High Places helped awaken a fascination with adventure, imagination, and the written word.

As his literary interests matured, Jones found inspiration in the works of Stephen King, particularly The Dark Tower series and Wizard and Glass. King's ability to weave deeply human characters into sweeping, interconnected worlds profoundly influenced Jones's own approach to storytelling and helped inspire the mythic scope of The Bloodline Chronicles.

Growing up in Truckee, California, Jones began exploring his own literary voice as a high school journalist, writing editorials about fishing, the outdoors, and the rhythms of small-town life. Although his professional ambitions eventually carried him far from the newsroom, his passion for writing never diminished. Over the decades, he continued creating poetry, short stories, songs, and novels, developing a storytelling style shaped equally by imagination and lived experience.

Jones studied Community Relations and Criminology at Lassen College before continuing his education in Leadership and Labor Relations at California State University, Sacramento.

His professional career spanned 23 years with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, including 15 years at the historic San Quentin State Prison. Retiring in 2013 as an Associate Warden, Jones spent much of his career confronting the complicated realities of human behavior, leadership, conflict, justice, and redemption.

Those experiences left an enduring imprint on his fiction. His characters are often flawed, tested by extraordinary circumstances, and forced to confront difficult moral choices. Whether writing about ancient prophecies or a civilization struggling to survive its own destruction, Jones draws upon a lifetime of observing both the darkness and the remarkable goodness of the human condition.

For Jones, storytelling is more than entertainment. It is an opportunity to explore the choices that define us, the relationships that sustain us, and the enduring belief that even when everything familiar has been lost, the human spirit can find a way forward.

Over the past months some of my readers sent me e-mails expressing their favorite and not so favorite parts of my books. I was delighted with the feedback. I caught myself asking if they would be kind enough to simply post their opinion in the form of a review on goodreads and amazon. As I sent my response to one of my favorite people this morning, I realized I have read many books and I have not taken even a moment to post my reviews. So, I am up-dating my read list and will be doing what I have asked others to do. Authors know, we live and die by reviews and feedback. My apologies to the authors on my read list. I will be posting on a regular basis from now on ~

Good morning and best wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow.

I am new to goodreads and happy to be a part of such a welcoming literacy community. I was pleased to friend several well-read individuals who I look forward to sharing opinions and great stories.
