Deanne Durrett My great grandfather left home in North Carolina at the age of 18 and traveled to Texas in the 1880s. He met Quanah Parker, the last war chief of the Comanche there and went back to the Reservation in Oklahoma with him. He lived with the Comanche for many years and was adopted into the tribe. I have often wondered how life was back then, but by the time I knew about this my relatives who would have been able to answer my questions were gone. So, I have bits and pieces of family history, research, and my imagination... and I'm writing the story this mystery inspired now. I hope to release in in the fall.
Deanne Durrett I read a lot and always have favorites in my current read - but I know the characters in my books best. My favorite couple is Joe Chandler and Matilda Gable in my Ordinary Days in Myrtle Hill series. They are an older couple and they aren't married yet but the relationship is strong and growing. They are nagging at me for a romance of their own. After being there for others they are ready for more than friends and neighbors.
Deanne Durrett Writing. I love to write.
Deanne Durrett Learn your craft and follow your dream.
Deanne Durrett I'm currently working on the 2nd book in the PHOENIX CONNECTION. If you read WREN'S NEST and wondered what happened to the surrogate mother and the child she promised to produce via the legal contract... Well, we will both find out when I finish THE PROMISED CHILD.
Deanne Durrett I deal with this subject by never thinking about it and never talking about it.
Deanne Durrett It is easy for me. Just about everything that happens has story possibilities whether it's in my personal life or national news. I'm always jumping into the fictional realm and thinking, if I wrote the story, this is how it would go. However, it takes a long time for a story to develop and by the time I get a story written, it has little resemblance to the event the triggered it.
Deanne Durrett My most recent book is THE PERFECT BLEND. Although the story is contained within the pages of THE PERFECT BLEND, the backstory is in the previous books in the ORDINARY DAYS IN MYRTLE HILL SERIES. When I finished LUCY'S MANSION, I had the seed of idea but it blossomed into it's own story as Marie Springfield told me her story. A new character stepped into the story, surprised me, and stole my heart. She may have a story to tell someday.
