James Hider Thanks Caroline. Start spreading the news: Cronix, a science-fiction novel about the ultimate stage of evolution -- the accidental invention of god -- should be out in November.
James Hider I read a lot: novels, history books and popular science books (not smart enough to deal with hardcore, undigested science), in particular about evolution and psychology. Also I have a weird obsession with bugs, particularly ants. I read lots of magazine articles about a huge variety of things, many of them posted by friends with similar interests on social media. I see my mind as a sort of Large Hadron Collider, and bombard it constantly with strange particles, then wait to see what comes out of the explosion
James Hider I am currently working on a science-fiction novel which spilled over from Spiders of Allah. My research during 'Spiders' into gods, belief systems and the evolution of the human mind threw up so many interesting ideas that I thought a sic-fi novel would work best to encapsulate the essential weirdness of human existence. The book should be out later this year
James Hider I go for a walk. I have two dogs, who need to be walked twice a day, and nearly all my best ideas have come to me while dog-walking, or sitting on a plane or train. If I'm blocked, I'll go on a particularly long walk and force myself to think about the problem until something gives. It usually works
