If I'm blocked and cannot get any words on the page; I watch television, read a book, play a video game or try to get outside and walk around to clear my head.

Snuggled in your bed, phone bathing your face in hot white light, you hear a quiet, unassuming creak from the foot of your bed and kick, haphazardly as the blanket flutters. Eyes locked to the screen in your hands, you ignore the tickle at your legs and dismiss the shadows growing in your room but as a stretched and dripping maw peels from the ceiling, its hungry eyes finally catching your own...it is too late.

I can tell people that I am not, in fact, sitting here doing nothing - I am plotting. Why am I walking around, talking to myself? Working on dialogue! I am also not spending my day laying around reading, I am doing research.
Honestly, though, it is just really fun to tell stories and see others enjoy those stories. Especially when they get something out of them that you didn't expect, that is the best part.

In the Marrow came from my own creaking bones and the fleeting thought that maybe it wasn't that I am a sedentary human potato but that my bones are haunted. The story took a different turn than initially planned, but that's what makes writing so much fun.
