Characters inspire me. I like to think about lots of different characters and the situations they might be in and when they jump out and stay with me, I get excited to write their journey. They feel like real people and their story brings me happiness in some way. A happiness that I hope others also find when reading.

When I have writer's block, I just put away the computer and give my mind a rest for a little while. Then I try to find a happy place to sit that's peaceful. A great view somewhere is awesome and then just start thinking about the characters and try to envision their lives and story. Usually the images start coming like a movie and it gives me lots to go back to the computer and work with! If it's still not working, I'll repeat and add a notebook to capture little things until the story or scene starts unfolding into words!
