My husband and I were traveling the river road in Louisiana and visiting the plantations. We toured the Laura plantation and learned the stark differences between the Creole homes and the American homes. I found it so intriguing I had to research it and Dark Secrets, Deep Bayous was written. A Pirate's Command is the continuing story of Dark Secrets but is a stand alone book. The third and final book of the trilogy is done, and going through edits.

From everywhere. I love history. My husband and I travel to all the historical sights, sometimes they resonate with me, sometimes they don't. History books about anything. I collect antique books, my oldest history book is 1842, my oldest encyclopedia set is 1863, and just old books in general. I picked up a book about John Paul Jones, and thought, hmmm that must mean I'm going to write about sailing. Had no idea it would become a trilogy, but that's the magic of writing.

The third and final book of the Secrets of the Bayous trilogy is done, hasn't been edited as of yet, but at least the story is down. Currently working on a Western Family Saga.

Hook up with other writers. No need to reinvent the wheel. You'll need their expertise and support through this process of writing and selling. I belong to the local RWA chapter, WisRWA, and have a group of writers I meet with every week to drink coffee, brainstorm, and write. It's amazing how well that works for all of us. And always, keep writing.

I don't know what exactly writer's block is? Is it meaning you can't write, don't want to write, don't have the ideas, lack inspiration? So I'd say I don't ever get writers block, but I do hit periods of low energy versus high energy. I never try to push it if the will isn't there because when it is there, I write very fast. ;)
