I think it's the mystery that most of us ask ourselves at some point or another in our lives: how would my life have turned out if I'd made different choices at various crossroads in my life? To think about this is a staggering concept, given the number of decisions we make on a daily basis, both small and life-changing. It would be like the biggest dungeons and dragons book of all time!

Write! Don't worry about the mechanics, or if the story is good enough. Just get that first draft out. Worry about the rest later.

In the eighties, there was a song by Heart called 'All I wanna do is make love to you' which was about a woman who had a one night stand and then went back to the boyfriend she'd been fighting with. I always loved the line "he saw his own eyes", meaning he recognised that her child was his. It was just begging to be a story!
