When I was…moreI think everything happens for a reason. When I get writers' block it's often a sign that this part of the story isn't ready to happen yet. When I was writing The Silver Lining, I reached a part of the story and it just stopped dead. I didn't know where to go, or what should happen next. I knew where it was going to finish, but something was missing. I left it for a while. Then Canterbury was struck with a major earthquake, and afterwards I realised this was what I was waiting for.
