I got the idea for The Favor because I knew one day I'd want to write, in some capacity, about my own very long struggle to have a family. The Favor is some of that story.

Right now I'm inspired by my son who is in high school, and he has so much homework. So we work together at the kitchen table. He's a hard worker and it is such a big energy pour for me.

When I wrote contemporary realistic YA, I felt like at the end of the book, I left my characters pointing out in the direction of a great big horizon, aka all their life left to live. I was lucky enough to have both my kids through surrogacy, after a very long infertility journey. As a mom, I am vastly grateful that this path was available to me. As a writer, I tucked away this experience.
