Hi Mark,
I won't be doing a book specifically focused on Hong Kong. Rather what I'm planning is a book tentatively called The Maple Leaf Versus the Sun and it will focus on Canada's entire war effort against Japan. Hong Kong, of course, will be a major chapter in that and I've unearthed some pretty interesting and seldom, if ever, consulted material. Will also be looking at Kiska, Canadians in Burma, western Canada coastal defence, etc.

I am pulling together the research for my 13th Canadian Battle Series volume which focuses on I Canadian Corps and the so-called Rivers Campaign of October 1944-February 1945 in northern Italy near Ravenna. A fascinating and again overlooked chapter in Canada's World War II military history.

The Cinderella Campaign was a natural fit for the Canadian Battle Series of which it is the 12th Volume. When First Canadian Army came out of the Normandy Campaign it was immediately plunged into hard fighting to open up the Channel Ports and Antwerp. Despite fierce fighting for the Channel Ports, that part of First Canadian Army's story has been largely glossed over by historians and consequently gets forgotten. I love bringing history out of the shadows and into the light, so this was a perfect subject.
