Any chance you will do a book on the battle for Hong Kong? It is something that there are not a lot of books about. I am thinking probably there is not a lot of reference material as I doubt there would be many personal diaries or war diaries from the Royal Rifles of Canada or the Winnipeg Grenadiers.

Hi Mark,
I won't be doing a book specifically focused on Hong Kong. Rather what I'm planning is a book tentatively called The Maple Leaf Versus the Sun and it will focus on Canada's entire war effort against Japan. Hong Kong, of course, will be a major chapter in that and I've unearthed some pretty interesting and seldom, if ever, consulted material. Will also be looking at Kiska, Canadians in Burma, western Canada coastal defence, etc.
