Abigail Linhardt Working on making 3 stand-alone novels into a series! I have worlds to re-visit and I want to do that before I write a 5th stand-alone.
Abigail Linhardt As I said above: outline! Or write anything. ANYTHING. Journal. Write about a coworker you hate. Write their motions, their tone. Write about how a cheetah walks. Describe it's surroundings. ANYTHING is better than nothing when it comes to getting words down.
Abigail Linhardt Outline!!!
Everyone says to do it by the seat of your pants, but don't. You can still divert and go off course and add in new chapters, characters, plots, archs, and twists even if you outline! I always do! The one thing outline won't let you get: WRITER'S BLOCK!
You can't not write if you have a map in front of you telling you exactly where to go! Go back, edit, add in, and change later. For now: WRITE!
Abigail Linhardt An interesting story, actually! It was born out of jealousy. My oldest brother (to whom Revary is dedicated, as he was the one who introduced me to The Neverending Story) wrote a story by hand as a very young child. Before I was even born. He was a natural writer and I looked up to him. Once, my mother told the story about how he wrote the little, handwritten book with "chapters and everything. I was so proud," she said. I was so jealous! I wanted to prove that I too was boast-able. So I sat down after visiting my loval Renaissance festival (which heavily influenced my writing) and started the first chapter for my first book.
I like to think I write out of love for stories and language now, rather than jealousy!
Abigail Linhardt My most recent release "Revary" was inspired by a life-time of exposure to fantasy. I wrote it in response to Michael Ende's novel "The Neverending Story". In this book, he asks writers, dreamers, and humans in general to dream and to create. I wanted to respond to and impart that message. Cornelia Funke also wrote the same story in her great Ink Heart books. I took elements from the video games I love and mixed it together with the rising fantasy nerd culture to respond to these works and call the next generation to continue to dream.
