Goodreads asked Abigail Linhardt:

How do you get inspired to write?

Abigail Linhardt An interesting story, actually! It was born out of jealousy. My oldest brother (to whom Revary is dedicated, as he was the one who introduced me to The Neverending Story) wrote a story by hand as a very young child. Before I was even born. He was a natural writer and I looked up to him. Once, my mother told the story about how he wrote the little, handwritten book with "chapters and everything. I was so proud," she said. I was so jealous! I wanted to prove that I too was boast-able. So I sat down after visiting my loval Renaissance festival (which heavily influenced my writing) and started the first chapter for my first book.
I like to think I write out of love for stories and language now, rather than jealousy!
