Martin Lake Hi Andrew, I've only just seen this message, sorry about this. Yes, I'm continuing Ulf's story with his role as Edward's horse-thegn. I'm part way through other books so these will come out first. One is the third part of my Viking series and the other is a second world war book. Then it's Ulf.

Thanks so much for your interest and support. I really appreciate it. Apologies once again about the tardy reply.

Martin Lake Hi Cindy,

The Lost King is the series name for my four books about Edgar Atheling. They're now all on paperback as well as Kindle. If you're interested in this period, I have two books from a few centuries ealier: Land of Blood and Water and Blood Enemy.
Martin Lake Hi Paul, I will though I guess I have to wait for my cover artist to complete the cover. Or could I do it earlier?

Glad you're enjoying it.
Martin Lake I have none planned although her grandson, Thomas Mapperley, one of Francis Walsingham's spies, may yet make an appearance.
Martin Lake Read a lot. Fiction, in your own genre and others. Books about writing. If you get an idea, a gem of advice from a fellow writer make use of it.

Write a lot. Sit down and write. Some of it will be good, some less so. It's all learning.

Don't talk about writing. I've found it makes my creative juices seep away.

Think back to your childhood. What did you like to read then? What did you like to play? This is your treasure trove.
Martin Lake Being able to live where I want and do what. That is not only in a physical, day to day way. I can set my books anywhere in space or time and play at being different people doing things I could never do. What could be better than that?
Martin Lake I'm not sure I ever have what you'd call a block. Sometimes I don't feel like writing, other times I get stuck over a plot line or passage. If that happens I give it a rest, go for a walk or read something. I never talk about it with anyone. I have two other techniques. I find somewhere I can sit with my feet dangling above the ground. I don't know why but I often get fantastic ideas that way. More usually I go to a cafe with my notebook. They are both public and private places and that helps me come up with idea. Maybe that or the muse just likes a nice cup of something and keeps me company.
Martin Lake Thanks very much, Bev. I'm glad you liked it. Yes, I'm planning some more books in the series. I'm about ten thousand words into the fourth book which is provisionally called Darkest England. It's been hard to plan as there's little known about this period of Edgar's life (although that means I have more freedom to be creative.) I finally got the key to the book a month ago and am looking forward to exploring it.
Martin Lake I'm working on a sequel to A Love Most Dangerous. Things are never simple for my protagonist, Alice Petherton.
Martin Lake I get an itch to write if I haven't written for a while. I get distracted by day to day things, a little edgy. And then I sit down and start writing.
Martin Lake The idea for A Love Most Dangerous seemed to come from nowhere. I'd just finished writing my lost novel and sat down at the computer and thought that maybe I'd play around with writing, maybe come up with a short story. Then I wrote a couple of sentences and was surprised to see that the voice was that of a woman. Quite a surprise. And then I just ran with it.
