Goodreads asked Martin Lake:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Martin Lake I'm not sure I ever have what you'd call a block. Sometimes I don't feel like writing, other times I get stuck over a plot line or passage. If that happens I give it a rest, go for a walk or read something. I never talk about it with anyone. I have two other techniques. I find somewhere I can sit with my feet dangling above the ground. I don't know why but I often get fantastic ideas that way. More usually I go to a cafe with my notebook. They are both public and private places and that helps me come up with idea. Maybe that or the muse just likes a nice cup of something and keeps me company.
