My first novel, Emma: Desperately Seeking Baby, is based (loosely) on my own experience of IVF and infertility. Trying to conceive (or, "TTC" as those with similar experiences will know it as) was a harrowing journey for myself and my husband, both emotionally and physically, with moments of absolute elation and periods of complete horror along the way - what better subject matter for a novel! I wanted to portray the journey as realistically as possible, but with plenty of humour - because sometimes, when life's especially tough, laughing really and truly is the best kind of medicine!
