Writer's block, IMO, is actually emotional block. Life happens and sometimes it sucks the creativity right out of you. Unfortunately, if you're under contract and deadline, you can't just say, Oh, I'll deal with it later. Sometimes you have to push through it and hope for the best.

As my dear sister once told me, "Don't just talk about it, sit down and do it!" That was back in 1992 and I've been at it ever since. While you're writing that first book, don't expect it to be perfect; success comes with trial and error. Be sure to do your homework and make certain you're on track with your target market/publisher, Locate a writers group for your genre and network while you're writing. And after you finish that first book, go ahead and submit it.Then write another, and another and keep going. Publishing a book traditionally is all about perseverance.

I just completed the final installment of the Arabian Heat series, The Sheikh's Secret Heir, that will come out in June 2015. What comes next is still in the planning stages, but if all goes well, it looks like I'll be moving from the Middle East to the West with a series tentatively entitled Texas Extreme. More info as it becomes available.... :)

For story ideas, inspiration can come anywhere, from a hot air balloon race flying over my house to a human-interest news story. You just have to leave your imagination open to all the possibilities.
For individual stories, building a character from scratch is quite inspirational. Since I write by the seat of my pants, it's always fun to learn what will happen to them on the way to the end of the story--and happily ever after.

My upcoming book, One Hot Desert Night, is a continuation of my self-titled series, Arabian Heat (https://www.facebook.com/KristiGoldAr...) One day the Mehdi brothers' cousin, Rayad Rostam, just popped into my head and demanded a story. Who better than to pair him with than Piper Mehdi's sister (The Sheikh's son), Sunny McAdams? He's an emotionally wounded military sheikh who suffered a devastating loss several years ago and she's a strong-willed international correspondent who's recently endured a harrowing experience in the field. Together they are hot, hot, hot!:)
