Toni Bunnell A slice of bread and jam by Tommy Rhattigan
Toni Bunnell From a comment made by a fellow musician at the music session where I play my fiddle every Tuesday in York. I happened to mention that I often start to speak German when I am tired and that I find it rather odd as, when I lived in Heidelberg, Germany, I could never manage more than a few words when I was tired. He said that there was an explanation for this kind of language switch. What he said inspired my most recent book.
Toni Bunnell Ideas pop into my head, seemingly from nowhere. I grab a pen and my exercise book, that travel everywhere with me, and scribble away furiously in a corner. I once wrote the words for an entire song in ten minutes, with my book resting on one of the ancient stone walls in the city of York, where I live.
Toni Bunnell I have just finished a new novel with an overtone of mystery. I don't want to reveal more just yet.....
Toni Bunnell Don't always wait for inspiration to come to you. Try sitting in place where you feel very relaxed and secure, be it a garden bench or in the heart of a café. Have a note pad and pen in your hand and write whatever comes into your head. You will find that the ideas flow from your pen and that I how the story begins.
Toni Bunnell Being able to lose myself utterly and completely in the story.
Toni Bunnell I've never actually experienced this but one thing springs to mind that might help to combat it, should it arise: Forget all about trying to write a story or a poem and go about your life as normal. When you least expect it, and when you are otherwise occupied, an idea will spring into your head, as if from nowhere. This is how stories come to me.
