I would go to the Pern of Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series. I would probably be a Harper, writing music and performing at all the major Holds.

I like young, intense love stories, so *historically* I'd have to say it begins with Romeo and Juliet, but I think my favorite modern couple would be Eleanor and Park, from the book of the same name by Rainbow Rowell. Two misfit outcasts with major problems in an absolutely intense life or death love. It's hard to beat.

There are two methods. First, I begin at Page 1 and read what I have written up to the point where I am having trouble. Normally, I just start writing from that. If I am really stuck, I always have multiple projects on-going, so I can work on something else.
