I was born in Pawnee City, Nebraska in 1949 and grew up in the state capital, Lincoln. I started writing at the age of 12 and have pursued it on and off throughout my life. I've written plays, novels, short stories, poetry, reviews and blogs. As an actor and director, I was involved in many theatrical productions in school and had a brief career in dinner theater after graduating from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. After that, I spent three years in Germany, serving in the U.S. Army, then I moved to San Francisco, California, where I lived for 18 years
