This one has taken me some time to figure out, but only recently did I find this trick. It's helped a lot.
Whenever I sit in front of the computer, for any reason, I have to write 100 words of fiction. This includes any time I come back from leaving the room. It is tough, and sometime what I write is terrible, but it has helped a great deal.

Tavi and Kitai from Jim Butcher's Codex of Alera series. Having met as teens during a ritual challenge, Tavi wasn't even sure if Kitai was a boy or a girl (she is a girl). But because of the challenge, they mistakenly bonded, an ability of Kitai's kind in the story. It was fun to see them grow together and bond even closer through the story. They had some great banter, and even through their challenges, strengthened each other.
