Stephen Wolberius Fully embrace the void and the despair of knowing that you'll take a decade or more to succeed.
Stephen Wolberius Night Demon Book 2 and a standalone set 100 years before the events in Night Demon Book 1.
Stephen Wolberius The inspiration comes naturally but with heaps and bounds. I've always indulged in escapism. For some, that's roleplaying (which I've done); for others, it's cosplaying or larping (which I haven't), while yet again, others invest their spare time into games (guilty too). I see writing as a productive form of escapism, one which I enjoy thoroughly.

I experience long periods of not having any inspiration at all, but that sudden burst of hyperactivity always comes back where I absolutely MUST finish a story. Maybe I could get that diagnosed, haha?
Stephen Wolberius Night Demon is a story that has been percolating in my mind for years now. Many of its characters and themes started off as fun hobby projects I would write and make up stories about in my spare time. Over the years, I've gathered inspiration from many sources, both books, manga and movies, and I think at some point, Night Demon started to live a life of its own.

Two of my great hobbies or topics of interest also contribute heavily to my ideas and stories. That would be history and language, and then the history of language in particular. Night Demon is set in the 1870s, during the industrial revolution, and I try to stay true to the period when it comes to technology and setting, but also culture, mindset and, to some extent, language use (but I do use modern prose for a modern audience).

I've made a constructed language called Elilim for the Night Demon series. In the story itself, Elilim is not a constructed but a reconstructed language. Think along the lines of proto-indo-European (PIE). The idea for Elilim came from PIE, leaning towards proto-greek (Mycenean Greek) and Ugaritic.
