Hey David, Thanks for the question. 2018 was definitely a quiet year for me, though not an unproductive one. I'm still working on the fourth and final Natta Magus novel, but it's going really slow, like GRRM slow. That's mostly because my 2018 creative juices wanted me to write short stories and RPG modules. I'm particularly excited about the RPG module, as it was officially contracted by a somewhat popular RPG publisher that wields a +5 Agreement of Non-Disclosure. That'll come out late winter or early spring.

I'm currently working on the third NATTA MAGUS book, my fantasy series about a magus from an alternate 21st century who gets stuck in Augustan Rome. Natta is certainly "leveling up" in this one: Whereas the first book had him saving Rome's frontier, and the second had him saving Rome itself, this one has him dealing with a worldwide threat. He's certainly missing his quaint little shop on the Aventine Hill when all he had to do was find missing heirlooms and pets.

Inspiration rarely has anything to do with when I write. Like all of us, I have a busy life: day job, family, sleeping, eating, exercising, etc. I only have an hour or two per day to write, so I write during that time whether or not the muse strikes.
But here's the funny thing about my muse: Once I START writing, she awakens and won't shut up. Starting is the hard part for me; continuing, though, is a breeze.

Read, write, repeat. It's that simple. Yeah, it's not always EASY, but that is the trick to becoming an author that complete strangers will want to read.

This may sound smart ass-ish, but it's true: I deal with writer's block by writing the next sentence. "But what if that sentence sucks?" you ask. Then I fix it. Dealing with writer's block, for me, is more a lack of discipline rather than a lack of something to say. Once you put something--anything, really--down on paper/screen/napkin, then that forward momentum usually leads to a paragraph, then a page, and then a book.
