Raelee May Carpenter Wow! Tough question! I've met tons of lovely characters in the books I've read, but I'd have to say Howl and Sophie Pendragon from Diana Wynne Jones's Moving Castle series. A lot of fictional couples inspire me, but I like Howl and Sophie, in part because their relationship reminds me of my own. :)
Raelee May Carpenter Inspiration, for me, comes from some pretty random places, and it's always felt a bit out of my control. The thing that I've found more recently is that discipline can produce inspiration. If I can sit down to work on a book even if I don't feel particularly inspired, the spark will come automatically as I immerse myself in the story.
Raelee May Carpenter I have a few unpublished drafts that I'm trying to tighten up so they are ready to query on. You can read more about my in-progress books on the works page of my website here: http://www.raeleemaycarpenter.com/wor...
Raelee May Carpenter I used to just wait around for it to go away, but that didn't get me anywhere very fast. I found that if I backed up a bit and worked on editing what I'd already written, I soon became inspired to move the story forward, if even just a little bit, everyday.
Raelee May Carpenter The wonderful adventures of the imagination! Getting to play make-believe as an adult is a gift that informs on real-life, and can make the most mundane of tasks insanely interesting.
Raelee May Carpenter There's no such thing as an "aspiring writer." If you write, you're an author. If you don't, you're not. Don't let your ideas go to waste; get them down on the page.
