Inspiration, for me, comes from some pretty random places, and it's always felt a bit out of my control. The thing that I've found more recently is that discipline can produce inspiration. If I can sit down to work on a book even if I don't feel particularly inspired, the spark will come automatically as I immerse myself in the story.
