I'm just home, getting over a long bout of bronchitis, after being in England for two weeks! I'm working on something that hasn't been announced yet, so I'm afraid I can't talk about it!

I just reread them all for . . . reasons . . . and I have to say, I'm very proud of them all! I like them all for different reasons!
Jessica Day George
That's great! Glad to hear it!
Jessica Day George
I would love to! Maybe one of these days! (But you know of course that Finn and Anthea live happily ever after!)

I will have a new book next fall, just in time for Christmas 2026, and I speak German and Norwegian and used to be able to read some Old Norse/Icelandic!

Okay, do you want to send me your original question again, then?
Jessica Day George
I'm sorry, but I do not! Are you a 12yo trying to get your book published? That's cool!

It's always the newest one, because it's so shiny and exciting! So right now my favorite that's published is The Rider's Reign!

I'm sorry, I don't understand this question.

If we're talking about my favorite book, A Christmas Carol, then it's for all ages!

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
Also, The Muppet Christmas Carol is probably my favorite movie!

I never say never, but I just don't have any plans to do another one at this time.
Jessica Day George
Nope, still working on it! And trust me: as frustrated as you are with how long this is taking, I'm TWICE as frustrated!
Jessica Day George
If your book is ready, and you find a publisher, why not?
Jessica Day George
I'm glad you still love them! You're never too old for fun books!
There . . . might be more . . . that's all I will say about it.
As for Celie and Pogue, they're about four years apart. Which is huge when you're a teen, I know. But as of right now, it's mostly that she has a crush on him, and he thinks of her as a friend, so it's really nothing too crazy! I get sent fanfiction all the time detailing their wedding plans, and I'm like, SHE IS THIRTEEN. :)

Not yet! I've got something coming in fall of 2026, but it's not officially announced yet! My most recent book is still The Rider's Reign.
Jessica Day George
That's about the same age that I decided to be a writer!
Jessica Day George
Good for you! If you keep at, I'm sure it will!

I have no idea when I decided to sort of steer them together. I did know that Pogue and Lilah wouldn't get together officially, he was too . . . messy, I guess? I always felt like Celie, at least, would have a crush on Pogue, because a) he's a boy who's around, and a little bit older, and not her brothers, and b) I based their family dynamic on my family, and I always had a crush on my oldest brother's friends! ;)

Kind of a tie between Krashath, the evil dragon, and the crazy old wizards in Thursdays with the Crown.
Also, Anthea's mother in the Rose Legacy. I like my villains a bit unhinged.
