I love old rock-and-roll. I have fond memories of going to diners, inserting coins into jukeboxes and getting not just to hear songs, but to impose my songs on everyone in the diner. Or other people would pop in their coins and subject me to their music. It was a sharing experience. Someone would choose the song, and we'd all listen in. Like most novelists, I started playing "What if?" What if a jukebox could play songs that would make people fall in love? The Magic Jukebox series just took off from there.

As I said, I've got lots of stories yammering inside my head. They demand to be written. They nag at me. They unspool, then get tangled and beg me to untangle them. They're my inspiration.

I'm currently working on the fourth book in my new romance series, The Magic Jukebox. The series is about an antique jukebox that sits in the Faulk Street Tavern in the quiet seaside town of Brogan’s Point, Massachusetts. No one knows what classic rock songs will come out of the jukebox when a coin is inserted, but every now and then, the jukebox will play a song that casts a spell on two bar patrons—a song that will change their lives and open their hearts to love. The first three books are based on the songs "Changes," "True Colors," and "Wild Thing," and they're currently available for sale exclusively at Amazon, although they will be available at other retailers in a couple of months. They'll also be released in a single paperback volume in a few weeks. The fourth book, which I've just begun working on, is based on the song "Heat Wave."

Write. Then write some more. I've met lots of people who say they'd love to be a writer, they want to be writer, they plan to be a writer...but the only way to be a writer is to write. Also, read, read, read. Analyze why some books work for you and some don't. Experiment. Take chances. Learn how to write grammatically--and when to jettison grammar for creative effect. Most of all...write!

Getting paid to lie! (At least that's true if you write fiction.) Seriously, there are so many wonderful things about being a writer, it's hard for me to say what's "best." I love the freedom. I love being able to set my own hours and work at my own pace. I love showing up to work in jeans, sweatshirts and slippers. I love being able to free all the stories yammering inside my head, setting them loose. I love playing with words. (Seriously! I'm a word junkie!)

I'd like to say I never get writer's block. Alas, I do get it. I deal with it by taking a long walk, playing solitaire, watching some mindless TV...or gluing my butt to the chair and forcing myself to write through the block.
