Candace Plattor As I began working with families that were suffering and struggling right alongside their addicted loved ones, I could see that the methods I was using to help them actually changed their family dynamics for the better. I knew I was on to something important and I wanted to share what I knew about how to heal addiction with others who needed to have this Information. I knew I wouldn't be able to work with every family that was being devastated by the ravages of addiction, so I decided to write my book "Loving an Addict, Loving Yourself: The Top 10 Survival Tips for Loving Someone with an Addiction."
Candace Plattor I have a lot of projects on the go right now, but in terms of a new book, I'm thinking about one I want to write about being raised in a home with parental narcissism. This leaves a lot of emotional scars and those of us in this situation often grow up to have unhealthy relationships with others - until we heal this dynamic. I know that we can indeed heal this, and I want to help other people who grew up like this to live their best lives without all of the childhood pain they experienced.
Candace Plattor When we do for others something they can - and should - be doing for themselves, we are enabling. Enabling behaviours keep people stuck in their addiction, while helping behaviours assist them to stop and to choose recovery instead.
