Denise McLeod I write only when I want to write. I tried not to pressure myself with time constraints and just went with the flow.

The main problem I had was how and when to STOP writing, as once I'd started it became all consuming and I couldn't eat or sleep until a chapter Id been thinking of, was written, finished and sent off for editing. I had an editor edit each chapter as I progressed.
Denise McLeod For me, the best thing was reliving some of the magical and not so magical moments of my past. I have included some terrifying, heart-breaking moments, alongside some of the best and most incredible moments too.

As some of my own dogs are in some of the chapters too, I have had a chance to relive those memories, cry a bit, smile a lot and laugh out loud too, when I remember some of their incredible antics.
Denise McLeod Just sit down and start it. If you hear yourself keep saying "I'd like to write a book" then why not just write it and stop saying it :-)?
Denise McLeod I'm having a break form writing to lose some of the many pounds I piled on, whist I was writing. But I do have 4 chapters of the next book already written (I kept some of the best stories for the sequel book).
Denise McLeod Sometimes my mind just races with memories and I cant rest until I have written them down.
I find that traffic jams are a great way to generate an interesting writing style and gives a place for thinking out layouts etc.
Denise McLeod Having spent my whole life working with dogs and their humans, I have many a tale to tell! As a child and adult have loved the James Herriot series, films and books. My book is similar in its approach. Entertainment, that educates. It has real stories of real events, but it also has a humorous slant to many of the events. As a public speaker of many years, people often say "you ought to write a book about your experiences!"
So I have!
