I've been inspired from a random line of conversation, a book ending I didn't like, a TV show, a long walk, or any number of things. But the best way, is me sitting in a chair and putting words on paper - and letting myself discover now and edit later.

Since I am a mood reader, I don't know what I'll wind up reading this summer. But I've read several super great books so far this year and I'll share those with you:
~The Mistletoe Countess by Pepper D. Basham
unexpected marriage, adorable book references, reading of mysteries saves lives :)
~Saints and Monsters by Ellen McGinty
dragons, girl with blue hair, 1800s Japan
~Daughter of the Desert by Kaitlyn Carter Brown
cardants (desert dragons without wings), feisty female lead, handsome king
~Sea of Golden Chains by Callie Thomas
family, rule-following female lead, sweet but beastly-ish merman
~Quest of the Queen (book 2) and Battle for the Crown (book 3) by Dawn Shipman
unique peoples, prophecy, inspiring female lead
There are a lot more books I've read - but these are the ones that have stuck with me so far :)

Letting others "see" the amazing stories playing out in my head.

A sequel to Sonji :)

Hmmm. I'd like to visit Doon (from Lori Langdon and Cori Corp's Doon series). There's pizza and Scottish princes and an amazing spell cast over the town by God. I'd also like to visit Narnia - they have unicorns! And of course, Santa Clause and Aslan :) Third, I'd like to visit Dryzza from the Dryzzian Legends series to get an even closer look at Sonji (a magic white mare) and the unique desert kingdom where folks can meet the Creator in person.

I typically have writer's block when I'm stressed or emotional. Dealing with my stress and emotions takes many forms: prayer, long walks, gardening, reading something I don't have to think about, just sitting down and putting words on the page, hanging out with a pet, etc. Once I've relaxed, often I can write creatively. What about you?

I think solving where my missing socks go would be a great plot for a book. Why? Because they're not hiding in the washing machine or the rag bag or the bottom of the laundry hamper. So, I'd like to know where they've gone and what they are up to! Like, are they on vacation in Venice, Italy? Or exploring a castle in Wisconsin? Or maybe someone stole them, and they're being used to hide a body in a laundromat? Would you like to know too?

Pray, write, pray some more, listen, and write. Get yourself connected with a writers group and/or a good mentor. Read – read craft books and whatever interests you. And don’t give up! If story-writing is what God has placed in your heart, the dream will come true.

SONJI was inspired by a dream – a single scene featuring a pair of desert dwellers, a girl and a boy. They were peering over the top of a sand dune at an oasis occupied by a small caravan. The girl pointed to a white horse tied with several others, and the boy pulled something small, almost bird like from his pocket. I asked questions and followed these characters to find out why the white horse was so important.
