Joshua R. Eyler When I began working in the Center for Teaching Excellence at George Mason University, I read a lot about effective teaching practices, and I observed many of these in the classroom. I was interested, though, not in how these methods worked, but *why* they worked. This question led me to begin writing the book.

Joshua R. Eyler I'm patient with myself and take significant breaks when this happens. Sometimes I'll just stop for the day, or sometimes I'll go for a run. I also break the project down into micro-sections and try to accomplish only that small piece every day.
