I do something else. I'm a writer who gets a lot done in a very short amount of time. I've never been the writer to sit down and write five pages every day for a year. I'm the writer who will churn out a book in three months, take a couple weeks off and then dive right back in.
If you are stuck on something, get active. I find that exercising, taking my mind off of it, or even spending time away from the page will often bring me the clarity and inspiration I need.

You aren't stuck in a 9 to 5. You can have days and days of productivity and then days and days of contemplation. You can start your day at 6 am or 10 pm. There's never the same day twice in a row, and you are constantly ebbing and flowing with inspiration.
It can get lonely, but I like knowing myself so intimately; knowing the way I work, the way I thrive, the way I self-doubt, and how I always, always meet the deadline.
It's a fulfilling career.

Write. Write every day. Know the market you want to break into and then do everything you can to get involved. If you want to write books, write the best book you possibly can before you pitch it or worry about agents or publishers. If you want to be a journalist, get in with your local paper or magazine. Experience is the name of the game.
If you are venturing into the realm of nonfiction, build your platform. This is something I still struggle with, but these are the times we live in. It's as much about your work as it is about your brand. You are the expert. Prove it.
And finally, find writers you admire and emulate their work path. Though you have to find your own voice, see what the successful authors have in common. Is it social media? Are they extremely prolific? Are they well-connected? Do your homework.
While it's important to dream of being published, it's a lot of work and is often not as glamorous as it seems.
Write because you love it - not because you want to make a million dollars.

I just got asked to contribute to a Mediterranean diet cookbook. I love the Mediterranean way of living and being, so I have had fun doing that.
I also am working on a novel. Fiction writing is something I love and would enjoy returning to - whether it's just for me of even if it gets published. It's a definite outlet.

I have always cared about health and wellness. But what about prenatal health? There's never a more important time to take care of your body and pay attention to what you're eating than before and during pregnancy.
When I had my daughter, I was luckily the healthiest I've ever been, but I've noticed so many women struggling with their pregnancies, experiencing symptoms that could really be obliterated entirely when you get to optimal levels of health pre-pregnancy (or even post-pregnancy).
I wanted to provide a step-by-step guide that could help women do just that.
