Carol Buchanan My most recent book could be the current WIP (the Ghost at Beaverhead Rock) or the one I published before that, The Devil in the Bottle. whichever one is intended, all my ideas for long or short stories come in various ways. A reader suggested one of the new ideas, but I haven't found the story. My own family history has suggested another idea that is growing on me. My father was a great storyteller, who lived in a part of the West known for the outlaw gang that also lived there. I've been wondering how my widowed grandmother coped with raising two young boys where the Wild Bunch roamed.

The Devil in the Bottle began as a prologue to an earlier novel, but outgrew the size I intended it to be.

The Ghost at Beaverhead Rock began when I realized that the protagonist of the three earlier books in the Vigilante Quartet at some point had to confront the effects of his participation in Montana's vigilance Committee during the Civil War. And no, they did not lynch African Americans. They just hanged outlaws.
Carol Buchanan I wait. Usually, what most people might call writer's block is Sally the Subconscious trying to get through to tell me something important about the current novel. Communicating with Sally is like looking at light; I have to look aside to really see her.
