Andrew Ashling Hi Marta,

Thank you for asking. I'm actually doing much better, though I'm still very low on energy. This surprises me since my pneumonia was three years ago. Of course, in the mean time, life happened. Nothing major or dramatic, but some time consuming things needed to be taken care of.

I've started writing again, but nothing yet that is fit for human consumption. There is a longish short story in the Just Don't Mess With Us universe. There are also single scenes which one day will fit somewhere in the world of Anaxantis. So it's not as if I've given up on or grown tired of the many, many characters that inhabit it.

I'm also planning to write a few articles that should clear up — or at least discuss — a few unorthodox choices I made while writing The Dark Tales of Randamor the Recluse. I think when these start to appear you can safely say that I'm writing again on a regular basis. If you are subscribed to my blog posts (http://www.ximerion.com/, landing page, right column, fourth box down) you'll be notified when they are posted.

When that will be… I can not say yet. Sorry.

Thanks again for your concern and support.
Andrew Ashling Hi Kalil,

Thank you for your interest in my books.

Let's say the Dark Tales of Randamor the Recluse are on a hiatus. I plan several offshoots and, maybe more importantly, a continuation, but it's too early to tell when any of these will see the light of day.
Andrew Ashling Anaxantis and Ehandar from my series “Dark Tales of Randamor the Recluse.”

It may seem arrogant to choose one of my own couples, but I don't think it is. I know them better than all fictional couples of other writers. I lived with them through all the anger, hardships, and hate before it turned into love. Even so it wasn't an easy choice, because I wrote quite a few couples and I love them all for various reasons.
Andrew Ashling Hi Lynn,

Not in the near future, I'm sorry to say.

I've had a few health issues. Last year I had a severe case of pneumonia and my energy levels are still not what they used to be.
More recently I had surgery on my left eye…

With one thing and another this put my schedule— scratch that, there is no schedule anymore. :)

Even without all those setbacks (there were a few of a non-medical nature) I think I want to give the guys some rest for the time being.

But they will return. Eventually.

Sorry, I can't be more precise.
Andrew Ashling Absolutely.

By the end of book 7, Mate, it has become clear that the Rhonoman Influence is on the brink of civil war. Antybion, as the adopted heir to one of the most prestigious Rhonoman kinships and largest fortunes can't help but being caught up in the coming power struggle. All the more so since one of the main contenders for absolute power, Dronykas Meri, has recognized his talents.

Also at the end of Mate, Anaxantis says he has received reports that a lot of Naodyman refugees have fled to Trachia. The most fortunate among them is of course Thenoclon. How long can he resist taking the lead in the reconquest of Naodyman territory? That is, after Phrademys is firmly seated on his throne.

I haven't decided yet how I'm going to tell both these stories. The events are interwoven enough to relate them in one book — hopefully not a trilogy :) — independently, and not as a side story to that of Anaxantis & Ehandar.

Last, but certainly not least, are the relationships of Antybion & Yorn and Thenoclon & Demys which I would like to explore further as well. Oh, and Chryntyum & Navastas too.

A more difficult question to answer is when I will write this book. Not this year, I think, but you never know.

Thank you for the interest in my books. :)
Andrew Ashling Actually, I'm afraid not.

I don't read in my own genre because I don't want to be influenced by other writers. You can't totally avoid being influenced by which books you've read, movies you've watched, or simply life's experiences. I just want to narrow down the possibility that I would inadvertently borrow something.

If you'd like to know more about my views on this, I wrote a blog post some time ago: http://www.ximerion.com/blog/can-writ...

Sorry. I hope you're not too disappointed.
Andrew Ashling I'm about two thirds into the seventh volume of Dark Tales of Randamor the Recluse, The Invisible Hands - Part 4: Mate.

Edited to add:

It's finished now. The first, rough draft anyway…
