I think for any writer there are unmined plot depths asking the question "Who am I?" Take your answer and then challenge the assertion. Why are you that way, do you have the power to be something different, are the morals values, and perceptions that formed you valid or merely comfortable traditions that allow you to exist perpetually wearing rose-colored glasses?

Right now, I think I favor the Culture Series Universe, though, I'd like to live much longer than the humans in Ian Bank's novels achieved. I firmly believe that if immortality is achievable then it is our destiny.
Immortality will not be for everyone, there are many who would not be able to endure it. This would lead to a gradual thinning of the population. Old humans will likely start to see themselves far from children. Any children born will never have a chance to catch up or surpass their elders, it will be easier not to have them.
If there is intelligent life in the universe then it is likely others have already achieved the goal of immortality and there will be some point after which we have achieved it that will signal first contact.

Reading is a year-round endeavor. What is on my list is on my list.

I draw my inspiration from many sources. Typically little bits of information just stick in my thoughts and eventually the combination of disparate ideas come together to form an idea I build on. It's a little like shaking up a bag of Scrabble tiles, dumping them on the ground and having a single word come out. From that I start the work of building a story round it.

Don't try and write your magnum opus. Make notes, write an outline of your big beautiful, special idea and then put it aside. Come back to it when you're a better writer. Then start small, write short stories, write ideas that you're not overwhelmingly emotionally invested in.
On the other hand, if the best you've got is pop fiction (say a Twilight) and you're not trying to win any literary awards then go for it. I've met lots of young writers who never get off the ground because they want to build a house without having to learn how to mix the concrete that builds their foundation.

I don't get writers block. I have never lacked for ideas. There have been times when I didn't write, but that was when I didn't know how to write and I was frustrated about what came out on the page. Start small, learn from others, get help (lots of it).

A YA novel (3 part). I hope to finish part one early next year.
