Arabella Sheraton The title To Murder a Marquis came first and I thought of it as something quite catchy, then I thought, well, who's going to try to murder him? And then, who's going to have to save him? And then, I know, let's have a time travel aspect to make it fun. I love anything Regency but truly, we have romanticized it, what with gorgeous BBC Classic drama filming. I've always wondered what it was really like with no roll-on deodorant, electricity, email, dental floss, the basics of life we take for granted. My heroine had a hard time adjusting to 1815, but she seems to have settled in now. Thank heavens there's a prototype flush loo in the stately home!
Arabella Sheraton Anything can inspire me. I have a few ideas for several new books roaming around in my head, although they have to come after the sequel to Murder a Marquis which is ... To Marry a Marquis! An image, a thought, in fact any stray 'something' can turn into a book. Sometimes I think of the title first and then the story comes.
Arabella Sheraton I'm having a wonderful time doing something completely different. While my true love is obviously Regency romance, for a while I have wanted to take the genre and turn it upside down. I'm busy with a time travel/murder mystery Regency romance called To Murder a Marquis.

Here's a teaser:

When Jane Carstairs goes to Chelston Hall to complete the archival project her father had been commissioned to do, things turn very weird from the moment she gets there. Jane wakes up in the woods at Chelston Hall, only it's no longer 2015 ... it's 1815, and she's faced with the discovery of a possibly dead man, who is the spitting image of her current employer - the Marquis of Chelston - and the growing feeling that something is very wrong. Jane has somehow slipped back in time, but why? Is she the one destined to save the marquis so that the line can continue? And how can she stop falling in love with a man who is from another era? Can she go back to her own century? Does she want to, ultimately? A time travel/murder mystery Regency romance awaits readers in To Murder a Marquis.

My Wattpad fans are enjoying it so have a sneak peak at the chapters written so far - remember it is a work in progress.

Arabella Sheraton It's so easy to look at other people's success and imagine you will never get there. I have yet to read a real, instant overnight success story - there was usually a long slog for that author to get where they are. So, my best advice is never give up, produce the best possible manuscript you can, and spend money on an editor - oh, yes, and just a reminder ... never give up!
Arabella Sheraton Getting up every day and doing what you love best!
Arabella Sheraton I don't because I never get it. If I feel a chapter is getting a bit bogged down, I move onto the next sequence of events and by the time I get back to the problem, it will have ironed itself out. Besides, my characters are far too busy creating more plot events for there to be any dull moments.
